Countryaah, China is set to open a trading
office in São Tomé and Príncipe, despite the fact that the
African country has diplomatic relations with Taiwan. In
November, China and São Tomé and Príncipe entered into an
agreement on trade cooperation, which could, among other
things, lead to China investing in the construction of a new
China severed relations with São Tomé and Príncipe in
1997 when the small island nation established diplomatic
relations with Taiwan, which Beijing sees as part of China.
The government of São Tomé and Príncipe believes that the
country must be open to various cooperation, and it should
