The climate of Pointe-Noire

Pointe-Noire is located in the south of Congo-Brazzaville on the Atlantic Ocean. It is the country’s main port. As early as the 15th century, Portuguese traders came to these coasts to trade. They called the black rocks they saw from the water Pointe-Noire and that’s how the name came about. It was not until the 20th century that the small fishing village grew into an important port. The need arose to transport goods from Brazzaville to the coast in an easier way. A railway line with Pointe-Noire as terminus was chosen. The town was redesigned and rebuilt as a result, and a railway line was built to Pointe-Noire. The construction of the railway through the tropical rainforest was not without problems. Many forced laborers died during the construction of the railway.

According to shopareview, Pointe-Noire has a tropical savanna climate, with a clear dry period from July to September. The rainy season starts in November and lasts until April. The temperature is high all year round, with a clear increase in the rainy season. The wind on the direct coast can provide some cooling.
